• A specific electronic book hardware is a frequent and repeated product concept tried since approxomately 1985. So far this never worked properly on the market. The question has to be: Who wants it, and why? Why not using standard portable comuting devices like notebooks, combined with standard software?

• An alternate solution is to use standard Web browswers and standard HTML for e-Book- concepts. But this does not work properly due to the basic characteristics of the HTML language. HTML is not a page description language (like Postscript, .pdf...) but is basically a continous text worm generator. It behaves more like a page generator when using it with some extensions and tools. But then it is typically not any more a sngle file and does not any more run equally with all browsers.
  
  
• This is were an alternate concept supplies a solution. By exploiting some special rarely known work-arounds, e-books can be generated which become roughly identical on all average standard Web browsers.
